Exmouth Archers Club Information
Exmouth Archers was formed in October 1984, although history shows that a club was first formed in Exmouth in 1885 by Major Bridges and was combined with the Lawn Tennis Club based at the site of the Cranford Club.
Exmouth Archers has in its time used many grounds, ranging from the drill hall and grounds at Lympstone CTCRM and the pavilion on the seafront at Exmouth. Since loosing the use of these venues for various reasons the club decided to look for their own grounds.
After many years of searching and negotiations, the Club successfully secured grounds at Withycombe Raleigh Common, Exmouth. Please see the Outdoor Venue page for more information.
During the Winter we use facilities at Exmouth Community College. Please see the Indoor Venue page for more information.
The club currently consists of approximately 70 members. Age is certainly no barrier in this family sport although regulations do dictate that children under the age of 14 years MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Club meetings are relaxed and sociable but at all times upholding strict archery etiquette, for as you appreciate, safety is paramount.
Although the club is very competitive and is well represented at competitions throughout the region and beyond, many of our members just shoot for relaxation and for the social atmosphere that exists.
The club maintains ample bows and arrows for use by members and these can be used until such time as the member feels the need to purchase their own.
Social events such as meals, barbecues, outings to pantomimes etc. are a regular feature of the club and the committee is always looking for new ideas.
Along with the tournaments we host we also put on four car boot sales each year which prove very popular. We also regularly attend local fetes where we set up 'have a go' stalls and also invite groups of local scouts, foreign students and other clubs to have a go at Archery.
