Joining Exmouth Archers
Before anyone can join any Archery Club in the UK, they must have attended a Beginners Course where they are taught the basics of Archery which includes how to shoot, safety and etiquette.
When you have completed one of our Beginners Courses you are welcome to join us. After a 6 Month Probation Period, you can ask for a key and swipecard which gains you access to the clubhouse and all the facilities at the grounds. This means that you can use the grounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you wish ! In order that we still see each other we have set club target days. In the summer they are Tuesday and Thursday evening, from 7.00pm and Sunday morning from 10.30am. During the winter we switch to Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, which are held at Exmouth Community College.
The club fees are £9.00 per month for adults or £6.00 per month for Juniors, payable by standing order directly into the club account. These membership subscriptions go towards the upkeep, and use of the grounds, plus one night "free" shooting indoors during the winter. Visiting archers (providing they hold current GNAS or equivalent) may shoot for £2.00 per visit.
Also payable are 'GNAS' fees. These go towards the County, Regional and National societies, and among others pays towards insurance for you and the club. GNAS fees currently stand at £42.00 per adult and £22.00 for a Junior. GNAS fees are payable in October of each year.
Swipecards and keys are issued on receipt of a £2.00 returnable fee. The key is used to open the 2 gates on the driveway, and the main lock on the clubhouse door. The swipecard provides the access control, and opens the second lock on the door. We can disable any individual card, should fees lapse.
Established archers, who have not completed one of our Beginners Courses, can also apply for membership. Each such application will be considered on it’s merits by the Club Management Committee. We do not think that membership should be simply a cheaper alternative to paying visitors shooting fees, and the Committee will consider whether the applicant is likely to take an active contribution to the life of the Club.
If you would like to take a Beginners Course with a view to joining the Club, please contact the Enquiries Officer.
Established archers applying for membership should contact the Club Secretary.
